Bidhannagar Mayor Krishna Chakraborty resigns, another massive blow to TMC
A group of unidentified youths allegedly entered the premises of Kamala Chatterjee Girls’ High School in central Kolkata early on Saturday morning and carried out vandalism inside classrooms and other sections of the institution. According to school authorities, the incident took place around 4:30 am. A written complaint was lodged with Gariahat Police Station later in the morning, following which police began an investigation into the incident.
School officials stated that the vandalism occurred inside a rented building used by the institution for conducting primary and secondary classes. According to the authorities, the building is not owned by the school but is currently being used for academic activities. Damage was reportedly found in several rooms after school staff arrived on the premises on Saturday morning.
CCTV cameras installed at the school reportedly captured multiple youths scaling the main gate and entering the campus during the early hours of the day. School authorities alleged that the group then moved through the premises and damaged property inside the classrooms. Police are examining the CCTV footage as part of the investigation to identify those involved in the incident.
Headmistress Debjani Das said the school authorities found the premises ransacked after arriving at the institution on Saturday morning. She stated that complaints had been submitted to both the police and the district school inspector. Sources in the district education department said further discussions regarding the incident and necessary administrative steps would take place with the headmistress on Monday.
